I appreciate the epic atmosphere of the scene... But Black Pearl and Dutchman were essentially firing at each other from guns that by the frequency of firing should be breech-loading autoloader guns. ETC ship just happened to be between them, but all cannonballs that wrecked the railings, stairs, masts and generally went over the deck should easily reach the other ship on the opposite side of Endeavour.

I don't care what the black Pearl or Flying Dutchman is the Endeavor was a first-rate ship of the line if that thing opened fire both the Black Pearl and the Flying Dutchman would have been nothing but splinters floating in the water there are the reason they were so feared even by pirates

Ironic though that the British codes of command and orders were our downfall in this scene unable to act without commands unlike the free willed pirates

Why didnt the Endeavour fire its cannons? Did they really have to wait for the command? The ship had a large amount of cannons and could deal a lot of damage to the Black Pearl and Flying Dutchman before sinking. (Im really sorry, its been years since i watched the film and my memory is just meh on it)

Endeavor was a Man-of-War class ship. She'd have annihilated both of them if the crew had just fired the cannons and carried out even basic maneuvers..'Plot' armor.

It's poetic, Becketts ace in the hole turning against him after he underestimated the Pirates, and Will, and the fact that he knew that he lost... I love it. Not to mention the fact that the Dutchman and it's crew reflect the state of its captain, that is a really cool detail.
